In our tools and technology’s class, we have explored and discussed some sustainable structures which were based on how to reduce carbon emissions, cut energy waste, and finding renewable sources. The High Line Transformation


This is a formation of a Highline transforming into a park. Once it was planned to demolish but on public pressure, it was repurposed to create into a park you see it today. It is an example of the city redeveloping its older infrastructure, which is now a public place.In this project, a team of designers, architects, and gardeners reconstructed a public landscape structure with into existing train line. Footpaths cross old plants of railway road tracks of the original lined with new trees, grass, and plants.

It contributes to increasing biodiversity in this area.This high line is 1.5 miles long greenway featuring 500 species of plants and trees. It’s a public park now, visitors enjoy delicious food there, view art, can meet with friends and family.

People are finding ways to bring green space to their neighborhoods. Visitors inspired by gardens learn more about plants and nature.


Yasmin Lari


an earthquake in 2005 hit northern areas of Pakistan, killing 80,000 people and leaving 400,000 families displaced, this changed lari,s work forever.

Using mud, lime, stone, and wood from the debris to make houses that were both cost-effective and eco-friendly, Lari worked with a large number of people who had lost everything. She not only utilized in but taught people to use indigenous materials to build better and safer, encouraging the victims to work on a self-help basis rather than depending on government assistance.

She trains people from rural areas in making building components and products.

Yasmeen Lari was recently awarded the 2020 Jane Drewnal reside prize for her extensive humanitarian work over the last two decades.


MRS FAN’S PLUGIN HOUSE

a new structure is a split between old and new houses. It is an example of how a small house can contribute to restoring traditional residential districts.

It has a sloping roof surface, which neither blocks sunlight nor the neighbor’s view. These houses can assemble consisting of a living area, kitchen, and a bathroom.

the concept behind these plug-in houses was to protect these narrow lanes of Beijing from urban transformation.
