Visual Feasts

Today’s visit to the digital world made me realize how we can use the Internet for our education rather then fulfilling our visual hunger. Today’s class justifies all the objectives this course has aimed. Before this, the Internet was not so productive to me I used it only for communication watching drama or movie that I missed on t.v, searching for website or information I need for my work but today’s visual visit to the websites case studies which shown during the class changed my perspective and I am amazed that this is a world within a world itself I was unaware of. Learnt how potential of the digital world for generating new ways of engaging with heritage, broadly defined, has been a key focus of academic work and cultural practice, how the internet can provide a “shop window” for the visitors, and how this might be translated into physical visits to sites. They have brought together literature on digital engagement, interactivity and participation within heritage and culture, case studies of current practice. Heritage organizations incorporating into new digital resources like:

Lourve Museum and MOMA (museum of modern art) at New York. Home to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the Louvre is considered the world’s greatest art museum, with an unparalleled collection of items covering the full spectrum of art through the ages. This museum is one of the most visited in the world. And that is no surprise since it hosts thousands of works of art from Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Greek antiquities to masterpieces by artists such as da Vinci, Michelangelo and Rembrandt.

Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, The Museum of Modern Art is home to the world’s greatest collection of modern and contemporary art. The collection includes Vincent van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” Dali, Gauguin some massive Monet canvasses, Andy Warhol’s Gold Marilyn Monroe, along with works by Jackson Pollock, Jasper Johns, Cindy Sherman, Elizabeth Murray, and many other great artists of our time. MoMA’s collection also showcases photography, film, architecture, design, media, and performance art. Visitors can also enjoy shopping and fine and casual dining options.

Turning to the digital archive we had a visual exposure of different case studies, personal achieves more distinct meanings for the two terms, “special collections” is often at least related to archive, like Hilton archive, autograph.org.uk, the missing chapter Black Chronic etc. Amazing projects like Missing Chapter, Hilton achieve collection, are the efforts of those who have immortalized their work. Black Chronicles’ showcases a selection of 19th century studio portraits of individuals of African, Caribbean and South Asian descent. As noted in the single information poster near the entrance of Medicine Bakery and Gallery, many of these photographs lay buried deep within the archives for decades, unseen for more than 125 years. Ignored, dismissed, disavowed; only just being sought out, displayed and researched. This is the infuriating story of the majority of sources related to the presence of people of colour in British history. The archive is an important learning resource for all ages and is accessed for educational, community and outreach work. Acquiring and researching historical photographs to extend visual narratives of black presences.

During my search for archives I found an interesting digital archive “CyArk “is a non profit organization founded in 2003 to digitally record archive and share the world’s most significant cultural heritage and ensure that these places continue to inspire wonder and curiosity for decades to come.it was interesting. I didn’t know much about Personal achieve before and after taking the class I realized that this is also house of one of my aunt who has traveled all over the world. She has collected things and stored them in her house. We used to c all her house a museum solely maintained by her but now I am thinking about the difference between a museum and an archive. Somehow we all are achieving our our own life in form pictures, status, conversations etc on Facebook, wtsapp, insta etc.

Websites that is using artificial intelligence like remove.bg reminded me of my childhood when my brother who was fond of using technology gadgets and learning about those told me after reading an article in a web journal “Spider” that this is going to happened in future we watched a movie Artificial intelligence and it was beautiful movie. I read in that web journal that scientists are experimenting to use human DNA’s to give more humanistic and sensorial effect to the digital world.

The term 360 degree view though I was familiar about that and was using that in my mobile to get pictures but its more then that how we can utilize this technology for business and industrial purpose and how designates all available and significant information about a company in order to provide the most personalized and efficient customer service.

I didn’t know that a fashion show can be hosted the way that anyone can have exposure to the industry or the brand online parade show 2018 is real example how one can explore more staying at his or her own place specially in current situation learn online during these unusual times where traditional classroom doesn’t exist and works.

Histography.io

This is one of the most beautiful visualizations of history I’ve ever seen, and it is amazing how it can exist. Its an interactive timeline that spans across 14 billion years of history, from the Big Bang to 2015.The site draws historical events from Wikipedia and self-updates daily with new recorded events. The interface allows you to view between decades to millions of years. You can choose to watch a variety of events that have happened in a particular period or to target a specific event in time. For example you can look at the past century within the categories of war and inventions. Still exploring around with it but still curious does this includes Adam and Eve!!!!……….. Oooops
