Taking classes in Pandemic conditions has diverted our thinking process to focus more towards our digital identity and citizenship than ever before. While as organisms we believed in physical interaction to nurture our brain and body, current situation has shifted our paradigms towards virtual reality– A reality that is not real in the terms our minds are conditioned to but a paradox that is still imprinted by our brain cells as an experience.  Therefore, it is a high need of time to build a strong foundation for our future generations and ourselves in this virtual space of possibilities.

Only a few years back History was preserved and limited to museums and archives, however, with the emergence of internet and digitization of data various have been digitized. One such archive is developed as a project to promote and connect history with young generation is “The Missing chapter”, one of many projects by Autograph where a huge archive of old photographs is available. To keep it more relevant and interesting for younger minds, many  interactive activities have been offered such as ‘develop a picture’, interview the sitters, etc.

George Santayana has reminded us of the fact that those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Therefore, it is the high-time for Pakistani nation to mark its presence in limelight by developing virtual spaces that are futuristic in nature yet connect our youth to our history. Citizens Archive of Pakistan-CAP is playing its role in this regard by introducing projects such as THE ORAL HISTORY PROJECT, EXCHANGE FOR CHANGE, HUMANS OF KARACHI and many more that are phenomenal in nature.

One of CAP’s many interesting project is the creation of CAP SHEEP Mobile Library which aims to educate children from underprivileged areas. This project is currently running in Karachi and Lahore.

CAP aims to revive our nation’s rich history through their new project, Museum on Wheels, which will travel to public spaces and schools in rural areas. Such innovative ideas are mandatory to keep our history alive.
